Assured Quality:.
We rigorously inspect our garlic when it is growing in the field, during harvest, through post-harvest, and before selling or shipping. We send samples to the University of Wisconsin's disease and pest laboratories to make sure the garlic is free from potential problems and diseases and to ensure it meets our standards. If it does not meet our standards, we do not sell it! Due to the spread of garlic diseases that has increased in the past couple years, we are not taking chances on buying new seed. The garlic seed we have has been grown on our fields for at least 3 years. We feel that that will protect us from inviting in something we don't want.
Garlic sold in sizes: Our certified organic garlic is sold in Small, Medium, and Large sizes. Price depends on size.
Medium Size Bulbs: We sell our certified organic garlic for $17.00 per pound for Medium size bulbs which are generally about 1.75" to 2". Every garlic variety really has it's own range of small, medium, and large. Medium size bulbs are a good all purpose size for eating and growing. There are usually 7-10 bulbs per pound, but it can depend on size and variety.
Large Size Bulbs: Sell for $19.00 or $2.00 more per pound. These are great if you don't like peeling a lot of smaller cloves or you want to plant garlic, but want big bulbs your first year. All sizes have their benefits. There are usually 4-6 bulbs per pound, but it can depend on size and variety.
Small Size Bulbs: Small bulbs (1" to 1.50"depending on variety) sell for $15.00 or $2.00 less per pound. There are usually 10-18 bulbs per pound. These are good for eating and planting, and are great if you want to start to grow a large amount of bulbs, but it may take a season or two to grow large bulbs depending on variety. Smaller bulbs can also store longer. I have had great sucess buying small garlic at 1 or 2 pounds and after season two I end up with hundreds of bulbs that are in the medium size and quite a few in the large size. This also gives garlic time to acclimate to your climate.
Shipping: We are trying to ship garlic to you in the cheapest way possible. We usually ship USPS.
